Our History and Inspiration
This lovely home is steeped in Orangeburg culture and tradition. Mr. E. O. Hudson (owner of Belk Hudson) sold the house to his secretary who happened to be one of the Mackey Sisters. Marion Mackey and Carolina Louise Mackey enjoyed hosting grand courtyard parties and festivities, which were attended by many prominent guests. These Mackey parties were the talk of the town and were eagerly awaited.
Mazelle C. Carter and Samuel D. Carter Jr. purchased the house in 1998, and kept up the tradition. The Carters are longtime residents of Orangeburg who were inspired by the history of this wonderful home. They wish to continue the blessings of good cheer and happy times through their venue services. Over the years, the home has become the elegant Venue on Summers. It is now Orangeburg’s venue of choice for small to medium sized events of almost any kind.
